Comments
Comments: Mainly writing to inform of water crossings: as of Wednesday all major crossings GRT and North Twin safely snow bridged but with warming Thursday/rain Friday would not expect that to remain. Parked at Beaver Brook took ski trails to camp 3 then onto Gale River Loop road to trail head, nice snow cover for snowshoeing. Depth progresses but thank you to Carl and co or breaking this past weekend. Now there is a solid trench. One other hiker like me on out and back but they added Galehead and a group of 3 who came up from North Twin (they also added Galehead) and reported the river was well bridged. Here I decided to switch to traverse out North Twin trail even without a car spot and either road walk 4.2 miles or take Haystack to its 2.5 mile end. I am very grateful to the hiker who offered to pick-me-up at Little River Road saving me trail and road walk mileage and 400 feet elevation gain the out n back would have been. Of note, Haystack Road was packed down from snowmobilers not sure if all the way to 302 but am guessing close to it. I used snowshoes door to door. At Garfield Ridge Trail junction to the right over to Garfield did not really have tracks, forgot to look at Twinway but pretty sure no tracks. Fire Wardens recent tracks.
