Comments
Comments: The ammonoosuc was fine. A visible trench until we hit ice that was hard enough to stand on. From there to Monroe and across to Washington,it was very difficult to follow any established trail. The cairns were hard to spot. But again, the surface with so crusty, we really didn't need to follow a trail. We just pointed ourselves toward washington and were fine. There Was some drifting to avoid, but it was easy to go around. Going down the jewel was a real problem. Again no established trail and it was broken up incredibly by postholers to the tree line. Easy to break an ankle.
