Comments
Comments: Trail conditions are variable based mostly on elevation. More snow needed to fully cover the rocks on the middle section of South Imp and the other lower trail sections. Significant snow drifts on Carter Moriah Trail made for slow going from Zeta Pass to Carter Dome. We had 3 sets of snowshoes out and back so we left that section in pretty good condition however, we passed 2 without snowshoes heading to the Dome on our return trip to Zeta pass so there is no telling how they left the trail. After passing them we did note some post holes that were left in their wake. Carter-Moriah Trail from Zeta pass to North Carter was a combination of mostly consolidated trail with many areas of snow drifts. 4 sets of snowshoes were on the trail today so it is in pretty good shape. Snowshoes on the ridge are needed to prevent postholes and churning of the unconsolidated trail.
