 | Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Little River is low but not fully bridged so you will need to be careful and also make one large step or hop. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Sawed 2 very minor downed trees. Could’ve cut a couple more on North Twin spur. This section gets narrow and also at one point we got off trail because we couldn’t find the blue blazes. Not sure if the blowdowns were in the trail or not in that spot. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one having a good time that made it to Galehead Hut but didn’t attempt South Twin. |

 | Comments: |
The ski trail and road walk had shallow loose snow. Enough for snowshoes, we all put ours on at Gale River road. Lower trail was tracked out but still a bit bony and loose, some scraping of rocks but too loose to bare boot. Galehead summit was quick. The real fun began on the climb up South Twin which hadn’t been touched in a while it looked like. We were knee to crotch deep most of the way, so it was good to be in a group of 7 because I don’t think I’d have attempted this alone. Not much views today but somewhat of a nice sunset on North Twin, and the trail down was broken out back to 7 Dwarves, but still bony and loose snow down low. It took us 11 hours for the 15 miles. It’s snowing now so you can enjoy having fresh tracks with maybe somewhat of a base under there now. |
