Comments: Snowshoe season is upon us! Soft, fluffy powder was the name of the game today. I donned the shoes at the trailhead and didn't take them off until I got back to the road at day's end. Prob 6" of soft powder to start on Blueberry Ledge trail. Two barebooters started just before me and were churning it up pretty good. I overtook both of them fairly quickly. Not sure how they faired higher up... after the Tom Wiggin junction, the drifts got bad! It looks like one person went up after the storm, but the tracks were very faint and fully drifted over in many spots.
One of the steep sections was a pain.... trying to get my shoe stable on the little ledge so I could push myself up was tricky with the heavy winter pack on. I wished I had brought my ice axe, could have used it for an extra hand hold. Oh well, I made it up and pushed through the rest of the steeps no problem, although there was plenty of back sliding in the knee deep powder

Rollins was all one big drift.... even going down hill, it was a chore. Thankfully Dicey Mills had a nice set of tracks. I made short work of Passaconaway and met one other fella in snow shoes on my way back to the junction with Rollins. Easy walk out from there. Both summits were in the cloud, so I didn't bother with the view spur, but it looks like whomever broke trail yesterday headed out that way.
