We chose snowshoes. Bad choice. Down below 1600 the rocks and roots were not fully covered. Above the first clearing with views, there were a bunch of ledges with high steps and narrow passages that we had forgotten about. They would have gone much easier with microspikes than with snowshoes. An ice axe would have been useful to stabilize a couple of high steps. |
