 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Water crossings were easily rock hoppable or walkable on ice (a few creaks here and there) |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
We cut a couple of blowdowns on the trail between the two peaks; there was a whole tree that uprooted that people walked around/over and we didn't have the time to deal with that - someone cut it to make it tolerable. |

 | Comments: |
Most of the trail down at lower elevations are snow-covered, but there were enough bony sections that we bare-booted all the way to the Loop junction. We were undecided on whether to bring the snowshoes or not and were ultimately glad we did. Having the televators going up the North section helped, and then across the ridge the drifts were deeper. I don't like descending steep sections in snowshoes, but the hubs kept his on and I opted for the spikes. The spikes did NOTHING to give me traction going down because it was still too soft and powdery. The rocks are still sticking up here and there so it was a bit nerve-wracking going down. Bare boots and spikes didn't chew up the trail too much, but I saw the occasional post-hole. I think snowshoes are a good idea at this point. |
