Comments
Comments: A long arduous slog up Jewell in loose fresh snow. Difficult to follow the Jewell Trail above tree line. Patches of blown loose snow and mostly supportive crust above tree line. The crust on Gulfside made for difficult walking in snowshoes but the one we saw in crampons broke through in many places. Drifting snow in the sphinx col and heading up to Jefferson. We went down the cog still in our snowshoes. Crampons would have worked also.
