Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Streams are bridged, some are narrow double log bridges. I did break through ice and nearly soak my boots a few times stepping off trail near the lake and again on Imp trail which had some very wet half frozen areas hiding under the snow.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Surprisingly only saw one tree down, a small birch on 19mb. I forgot my saw again though.

Comments
Comments: Tough shoulder season conditions but it could be worse I guess. Not much ice, just very bony under the fluffy powder which made for awkward footing and slow going. Some more snow will definitely help things. I carried snowshoes but only used them for about 1 mile above 4,000 ft on Carter Dome where it was actually deep enough. I would’ve been better off leaving them behind but after this next storm I’d bring them if we get the forecasted 4-8 inches. It was a very cold afternoon with the windchill up there but pretty cool being on the Carters under the full moon.
