Comments: Bareboot and spikes today.. a surprising day of conditions as I expected snowshoes to be the ticket today, after getting about 5" of powder in the valley in Jackson yesterday. However there was about only 2" of new snow down low and about 5-6" towards the top. I followed two sets of bareboot/spike tracks all the way up. Barebooted for a bit at first then put the spikes on. Lots of rock still exposed up to Mizpah Cutoff junction, and even still a few rocks poking through on the second half of Crawford Path. Snowshoes may have been sort of useful for the last 2/10 of a mile, but even then it was still lightly boney and though I don't love carrying the snowshoes, I really don't love bumping into rocks either. I really had no issue in just the spikes. Saw no one other than the two women ahead of me. I know it's going to snow again tomorrow but I figured some may be curious about an update. Who knows what tomorrow's storm will bring but obviously snowshoes should be brought in the near future.
