It was a perfect hike for a cold and windy day. I followed two steps of prints from Gale River Road to Garfield Ridge, where I finally met the hikers coming down. It was just us all day, unless others came down after me. Spikes were fine the whole way, snowshoes went for a ride (although today's snow might change that). While it was cold and breezy, I never felt the huge wind gusts predicted. The sun came out a bit at the start and end, gray and moody clouds in between, and snow covered trees above 3,500 feet. A stellar day! |
