I was able to wear snowshoes right from the parking lot. It was a bit boney at times until the Gem pool. I would rather have them on my feet than my back. The re-route section has not seen much traffic and it’s not marked well. We chose the old route. From what I hear it’s better than the new one but cannot confirm. Still exposed rock just above the Gem pool but quickly went to a well packed trail. IMO it was a nice line all the way to the summit created by previous hikers wearing snowshoes shoes. There are some potholes but I’ve seen worse. Great day in the mountains and running into many trail friends. Snowshoes for the win! |
