Comments
Comments: A FINE evening in the forest was had with Andrea. A little after work vert (well, for me anyways, someone's livin' it up in retirement - I asked. she wont adopt me.) Spikes could go on immediately in retrospect - worn today for 95% of trip. Minor boney patches that turn into a delightful cookies and cream combo of mud and snow and then all snow. We carried snowshoes and at no point did I feel there was enough snow to warrant their usage just yet. Possibly above 4,000 feet as the depths rapidly increase but the trail is tracked out - but it would have only been a short stretch. Virtually no wind at the summit, 19 degrees. The snow was twinkling delight for us. Magical to night hike in conditions damn near perfect as they could get. Lots of stars out, just a really great night with great company. It should be noted that if we get a warm spell for a few days, the trees are absolutely loaded with snow, especially above 3k, and there are an infinite number of snow grenades waiting to either melt on you, or for the Willey children to hurl at you. They have good aim, too.
