Not a bad day for our first time up this peak and forst winter hike of the season. Donned the spikes at the DOC Lodge and needed them the whole day. Snowshoes were not needed, but the drifts on the summit of Moosilauke and the trail over to South Peak could have definietly used snowshoes for easier walking. A bit windy at the top with fast moving cloud cover that allowed stellar views and a very impressive undercast. Carriage Road trail down was easy going as was Snapper. Plenty of running water on Gorge Brook and Snapper if you want to filter and lighten your pack. |
