Comments
Comments: Well guys, in true Pemi fashion these ridges seemed to receive a DUMPING of snow while other peaks seem to still be manageable without snowshoes. After doing the Carters yesterday without even a thought to snowshoes, left them at home for our planned Bonds-Twins traverse. All I I can say is.. whoops. Ascending Bondcliff the snow was getting deeper, kinda started wishing I had my snowshoes…then toward the top we had the reality check that this day would not go as planned. Fought through thigh deep drifts to get up to Bondcliff (typical).. figured we’d see how the trail was toward Mt Bond and encountered deeper and deeper snow. A lot of drifting, but it went from knee to thigh to hip deep and seemed consistent enough that we weren’t really interested in floundering around for another ten miles..so we called it. Hopefully others made it over from the other side today and had a more successful day! Still a gorgeous day out with friends and a great taste of what’s to come!
