Comments
Comments: Icy on lower Jewell, snowier as you go up. Nice and solid in the a.m., softened up later and some used snowshoes for descent. Deeper snow for a while between treeline & Gulfside jct., postholes if you step off the center. Some hard ice under snow in places going to Sphinx col, I carefully microspiked this- in fact, I stayed in microspikes all day, carrying crampons and snowshoes in case. I'm pretty skinny so I was able to avoid postholing, but if it stays warm it will get softer. Things get slushier up to Monticello lawn and Jefferson, fast melting in progress today.

Magnificent undercast all day. Very light winds, temps low 40's. Many folks out enjoying an incredible Presi day.
