Very limited room at the sharp turn on Gale Chandler Rd., where the Class 6 road diverges south. This is the spot indicated as "Ireland" on topo maps. |

No formal hiking trails on this route, but the ATV trail has some wooden step things to make the steep bits easier. At the start of the ATV trail is a newer looking sign that states it's a private trail but the only listed prohibition is for wheeled vehicles. Presumably foot traffic is ok. |

I'm not actively working on the NH 500 highest list, but was out and about in this area today. There was a break in the rain, so I gave this short and easy one a go.
The walk up the Class 6 road is easy and gradual. Both sides of the road are posted no trespassing but the road itself is ok. Just before the height-of-land, the ATV trail breaks off to the right and climbs steeply at first, then leads to the super cool private cabin at the summit. I looked around but did not find a register.
Looks like there's a good view from the cabin but it remained cloudy throughout the hike. |
