Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, November 8, 2025
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at Livermore Rd South. Normal WMNF iron ranger. I think there was an electronic collector too, but just get a yearly sticker, it's a good deal.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Leaves - Significant/Slippery, Slush
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Scaur Ridge crossing is the only one on the route and pretty insignificant.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There's one blowdown on Pine Brook headed towards North peak from the north just below a ledge that has caused a heard path to form around it. Pretty big. Judging from the other icy ledges, it might end up getting a herd path around it anyway, for safety.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one off leash dog that wasn't listening to owner headed down Pine Brook from North. She assured us that it looked scary, but was a baby.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a hair comb thing, threw it away.

Comments
Comments: Dusting of snow started right after stream crossing on Scaur Ridge. A little spicy going up the north side of north peak, where ice started. Used micros starting there and kept them on until getting back to intersection with Scaur Ridge. North summit and southern descent was slushy as hell. Feet got wet and cold in trailrunners with two socks, but never got numb. Sun came out, views were good. Got hot, down to t-shirt when we got back to livermore rd.

Saw a couple of younger guys who came up sabaday without traction and said it was pretty sketchy on the open ledge. They bagged both 4ks and weren't sure whether they were heading back down sabaday or pine brook. Either way would be sketchy without traction. Most people seemed to have come up from sabaday, which was suprising to me.
