There's a tricky crossing about 3/4 of a mile south of the Kancamagus Hwy. I managed to stay dry, but I'm 5'11". It might be more difficult for someone with shorter legs. |

 | Comments: |
I just did an out-and-back from the northern TH to the height of land. That's 5.6 miles, round trip. With a little more effort, I could have continued down to East Pond (recommended!), but I was just there recently.
There's a 1" coating of snow on the ground at 3000 feet. I had spikes in my pack, but didn't need them. Lower down, it's still late Autumn with plenty of wet leaves on the trail.
No clear views on this route, but you catch glimpses of Scar Ridge and the Osceolas. |
