Below 3200ft, no snow. Some patchy areas above. Blueberry Ledges mostly free of snow and ice (south-facing). Some damp spots, easily avoidable. Didn't use traction up nor down. The area where we encountered the most ice was off the back of south peak (north-facing down-sloping trail) as we made our way to the wooded summit. We were able to descend them without too much difficulty - a lot of crab walking. Probably would have been able to hike much faster with traction. We descended Blueberry Ledges very slowly and carefully, again with lots of crab walking down and sliding down the very steep slabs on our bottoms. Plenty of trees to hold onto for support. Lots of leaf litter in the lower elevation areas, making it a little hard to follow the trail on the return and slippery. |
