Comments
Comments: Started at 8 am, I was one of 3 cars in lot. First mile of Champney falls is unremarkable during ascent, but after that it was a little wet and the rocks were covered w black ice. The rocky summit after leaving tree line was actually very dry with good traction. Middle sister trail was a little slippery due to frozen drainage water on the rocks and w the sun staying low it’s not melting. Same w Champney falls cutoff. Biggest problem was descending Champney falls from Piper junction, everything had thawed making the trail very wet and rocks become very slippery. Lower down on Champney Falls was not a problem but I slipped several times and heard the same from others nearby.
