Excellent views from Mt. Avalon and Mt. Willey. For views on Mt. Willey, go just beyond the summit (headed south) and look for a small ledge on the left. You can see 180 degrees from the Northern Presidentials to Mt. Carrigain.
It was a beautiful day, but the conditions weren't great above 3500 feet. The trees were holding onto lots of snow and ice, which melted fast as temps rose through the afternoon. It was like a steady rain. Trails up high were slushy, then muddy, then running water. Below 3500 feet, the trails were in better shape. Of course, the details will be different tomorrow. Just be prepared for variable conditions.
See yesterday's report for more details on conditions for this loop.
