Comments
Comments: We hiked a counterclockwise loop (up 19MB, down North Carter) because I really like the “View” ledge between the Hut and Carter Dome. There were patches of ice between Carter Dome and Zeta Pass; traction is not currently needed but I definitely was stepping carefully in those spots. The leaves at the bottom of Imp are, as always, deep and slippery. This is the first time I have seen North Carter Trail without a stream running down the middle of it - the “extreme” drought remains impressive in a bad way. Possibly more trailhead signage about where camping is allowed would be helpful as there was a group of two packing up a tent literally right next to 19MB Trail, and it’s clear that people have methodically removed the brushing to the unofficial campsite between Middle and South Carter and are using that site also. We crossed paths with Little Foot and I am not ashamed to say that she left me in the dust - she is one smiley, accomplished, and wicked fast hiker!
