Solid with variably sticky snow on top. Microspikes and Hillsounds up, good snowshoes would work too. Some ice patches, on the ledge bypass too- but there's a bypass-bypass. Asquam Ridge trail has been getting used too. Above treeline, pretty icy and BEAUTIFUL ! Winds not over 10 mph, hazy west visibility but great in the Whites. Temps mid 40's hikes in a t-shirt to treeline, just a shell on top. Microspikes clumped up on descent, barebooted 'til it got steep and put on crampons for the rest. Hillsounds worked for Bruce all the way.Great hike today with Mr. Bruce Pfendler. |
