Three cars in the upper lot at 10am, none in the lower. At noon there were perhaps a couple more in the upper lot, one in the lower. When I got back down to the kiosk at the junction of Red Hill and Cabin, there was a pickup off the ATV "road"/snowmobile trail. I wondered about the route it took to get there. The trail abuts/goes through private property. |

Only one, it's bridged, and the narrow water channel had nothing flowing. |

Both trails are in good shape and well-marked, with red diamond blazes on Red Hill, blue on Cabin. |

I saw one, young, energetic, happy to be out there, and friendly. The pup was leashed. |

I noticed a lime green water bottle and two baseball type hats at the kiosk. |

A nice morning to get out in the cool fall air. There were some leaves, quite noticeable in a few places, but not quite at the point where I would flag it in trail conditions. I wanted to get out for a quick up via Red Hill and down via Cabin. I hadn't been on the Cabin trail for a number of years. I mistakenly took the herd path from the picnic bench up top down to the little outhouse and soon realized that this wasn't the top of Cabin, remembering that what I wanted started a bit higher than the picnic table, up by the tower. For a minute I bushwhacked sidehill, figuring I'd intersect Cabin in a few yards. I soon gave up on that and retreated to the picnic table, went up to the tower, and there of course is the trail sign. Cabin is an overall less rocky way down. The bottom half of it follows that ATV road/snowmobile trail down to the kiosk at the trail junction. |
