Had a bit of a time finding start of footpath up from ballfield. I recalled the start being behind home plate/diamond and searched around woods for a good while, looking for the path, thinking maybe it had grown in. Come to find out, the start is in the middle of the back of the field at the large path entrance. Displaced bridge is to left of actual path. From there, the ascent was pretty obvious though it has seen very little use. On Descent, I had a hard time following the trail - glad I set a tracker on so I could see the way. I really do prefer this trail to the camp trail - the trail from the kid's camp was ok but kinda boring and the sign-in/questioning was a bit annoying ("are you hiking solo???? HERE, sign this waiver...." blah blah blah.) This route is still gorgeous - many interesting rock formations and steep climbs followed by flat plateaus. View from top ledges was amazing as always. Last time up via this route for me was at least 8-10 years ago. A+ day on this. Saw nobody except some kiddos practicing soccer drills in the sports field at base. |
