Comments
Comments: Conditions: Nice hard packed conditions most of the way, with some glare ice, loose powder, and styrofoam on the Gulfside. Jewell trail was in good shape with a few scattered post holes (filled with snow fleas today). We wore Hillsounds from the cog to about half way up the Jewell above treeline, where we switched to snowshoes for the snow field traverse over to Sphinx Col. Snowshoes a must for the snow fields, some boiler plate, but also softer snow. Back to Hillsounds for the ridge traverse and summit.

Lots of hikers on the ridge today. Parking lot was pretty full on our return. Great day out with Bill Marcotte. Nice seeing Hiker Ed approaching Jeff on our way back. What a super day above treeline. Warm temps, blue sky, and a just a slight breeze on the ridge.
