 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parked at the Ammo lot on Base Road. Only a few cars there at 7am, not many more at 5pm. WMNF pay lot ($5/day, or pass left by windshield). |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
The one low on Ammo (Franklin Brook?) was quite easy, with little water flowing. The one well above Gem Pool was trivial. The two low on Jewell are bridged. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
All trails were in decent shape. On Jewell, well down into the trees, there was ample evidence of very recent brushing, with many of the small branch stubs still showing white from the cuts and the small branch pieces left lying quite flat on the trail. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
None today. Past reports comment on how the rough rock well above tree line is tough on paws. |
 | Bugs: |
None that I saw or felt. |
 | Lost and Found: |
I picked up a plastic two-pole clip by the car. These clips come with new poles, but does anyone really use them? |

 | Comments: |
Nice day on and around the big rock pile, the last in a string with above average temps with fair skies. The cloud cover held off until we were half way down Jewell. We started to feel light sprinkles as we left the Jewell trailhead opposite the Ammo parking lot - perfect timing! |
