Went up Whitin Brook, Cabin and Lawrence; then down Old Paugus, Bee Line and Bee Line Cutoff. This was definitely the long way to Paugus, but it's was a pleasant loop. I particularly enjoyed the parts of Whitin Brook Trail that hug the brook of the same name. The only real view was from the ledges of Paugus South, but there were glimpses of Chocorua and other neighbors along the way.
All trails are in very good shape, but it's worth mentioning this route is mostly in the Sandwich Range Wilderness. Blazes are often sparse and it can be difficult to stay on trail. I found Bee Line to be particularly hard to follow. This is not a complaint. It's what you expect for a little-used, wilderness trail. |
