Nice quick trip early this morning. Trail is well packed and in good condition--for now. Wore snowshoes the whole time, and is best option in my opinion for the integrity of the trail (was already getting soft by 10am on my descent) and for the televators on the way up. I suspect the warm temps will lure people into thinking its automatically summer and forgetting snowshoes. Microspikes would be fine, though would expect them to ball up and be annoying and loose traction.
Temps in the 40s even in the am, no wind, and blue skies made this easily the best "winter" hiking ever. |
