| Comments: |
Lower section of Nineteen Mile Brook Trail frozen slush that was softening in the afternoon warmth. Light traction helpful.
Upper section of Nineteen Mile Brook Trail compacted snow.
Wildcat Ridge Trail up to Wildcat A is snow covered and very steep in places. The footing was secure on the firm snow surface. I had no problem using snowshoes with traction.
Wildcat Ridge Trail from A peak to E peak was a well packed snow surface with some pitched sections. A couple of spots with ice that can be managed with care.
Many hikers were using microspikes. There were postholes here and there from bare boot hikers.
Great day in the mountains with clear views to the Presidentials across Pinkham Notch. |
