Having scouted the access issues the night before, we had time enough to form an alternate plan. We opted to hike start up Diamond Pond Peak first, then whack east from there, to avoid the access issues with Diamond Pond Peak.
We parked at the Diamond Pond boat launch and road walked west to a spot just east of Roy Rd jct, with some 'no atv' signs, which made me hopeful for a woods road. There was an old road but it quickly seemed to be going around the peak so we abandoned it. Woods were decent but hobblebushy. Real short whack to the summit, then we pivoted east, which worked well until we encountered some construction on plots south of the road.
We made it across the snowmobile bridge that others have described and followed the snowmobile trail NW briefly before entering the woods in what seemed like a small break in the logging regrowth / young woods. Woods were pretty dense getting up, but it's short enough to just power through. Hobblebush up top to navigate around, found the summit no problem.
