Comments
Comments: Awesome conditions for an overnight to Owl's Head, which seemed much less owly than usual due to the drought we find ourselves in! It was the first time in awhile we had seen any mud, which was almost refreshing, although the mud is only a fraction of its' normal self out there. Easily avoidable. We hiked in Thursday afternoon-saw several friendly hikers and stopped at Black Pond to chat with a fishermen about his inflatable fishing raft. He is on a quest to raft/fish the 40-something remote ponds in the Whites-cool project! We found a really fantastic, well-established backcountry campsite past the third crossing. We ducked and weaved the infamous pemi bear once again! Hit the slide early this morning when it was nice and chilly outside-great climbing weather. Took Brutus down, packed up camp, and slogged back to LW motivated by the promise of ice cream and thai food-in that order. Really glad to check this one off before the leaves start falling. Another grand adventure with the kiddos. 40/48 for James.
