Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: none, only easy crossing on the GIANT Footbridge at the outlet of Eagle Lake near the hut they built earlier this summer. Part of the "Franconia Loop Senator Shaheen Earmark"
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The continuing Franconia Loop granite staircase work at the base of Old Bridle Path is OUTRAGEOUS, it is shocking. Seems like basic drainage work and steps made of stone would have been what should have been done. No longer a path in the woods but something built at a fancy cemetery or rich dudes' farm. How far up are you going I asked one worker "Until the Money Runs Out. We all agreed the steps' risers are too high, the steps are maddening. I wonder how many more staircases they will build but one thing is certain it will stop before Agony Ridge where some improvements would help.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw a couple out there. Remember there it is silly hot and dry out there.
Bugs
Bugs: none

Comments
Comments: Happy we found a parking spot at Lafayette Place on the sobo side of the parkway. We were shocked by the trail work being done on the Old Bridle Path, it is over done and just insane waste of money. The lower part of this trail needed drainage work and maybe a few rock steps but fine granite staircases don't belong here. Agony Ridge is too difficult for most people so why build an accessible access to it? We enjoyed the beautiful day. We checked in at the Hut and left most of our gear on our bunks before heading up Greenleaf to the summit. Great views and a nice breath of wind to cool us and the sun was so bright. Just a great day.
Sharon, Sarah and I, the golfing gals, got together and none of us had ever stayed at Greenleaf Hut before. Dinner was great and we met some nice people. We booked our nights during the $99 sale.
