First maintenance trip of Mt Parker Trail. Lots of brushing between Parker and Resolution. I removed 12 near blowdowns, leaners, trip hazard trees. There are still some step overs that I might take care of next year. I clipped a few dozen trees to help prevent face-thwaps. Forest services did some great axe and saw work a few weeks ago. There is still some brushing to do along the ridge, but it has improved. About .3 mile south of S Resolution, there was a section of washout and a small path forming around it. I added a step and covered the bypass.
WARNING! There is an exposed ground wasp nest above the second waterbar at 2052 feet elevation, south of Mt Parker. They are out in force this year. The summit of Parker has a lot of yellow jackets and bull wasps buzzing everywhere. Use caution, and don’t stomp. I’ll be contacting the Forest Service to ask them about adding a warning sign to the trailhead. |
