Water Crossing Notes: All the crossings of Spur Brook were on rocks, but they were wet and slippery so caution was needed.

Comments
Comments: This was a pretty straightforward hike. Amphibrach is smooth and quick. Spur and Hincks are much steeper and rougher, but neither involves any serious rock scrambling. Gray Knob Trail between Gray Knob and Crag Camp is rough and rocky, but nowhere near as bad as the section west of Lowe's Path. This was the final trail section that I needed to complete redlining Chapter 2 of the WMG. The descent of Spur Trail needed to be taken carefully due to the steep grade and wet, slippery rocks, but overall it wasn't bad. It was nice to talk with the RMC caretakers at Gray Knob and Crag Camp.

Being 99% complete with redlining, I can confidently say that Chapter 2 is the most strenuous and technically challenging chapter of the WMG to redline. Its trails are beautiful and extremely scenic, thanks in large part to the amazing Randolph Mountain Club, but they're certainly not easy. Chapter 1 may have Huntington Ravine, but Chapter 2 has all the trails in the Great Gulf, plus all the amazing trails on Jefferson and Adams, many of which are Terrifying 25s. Just redlining Chapter 2 is a major achievement, and if you do that, then the rest of your redlining journey will feel quite straightforward.

My redlining finish line is in sight!
