| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Two new blowdowns in the midsection. A group coming up after me spent a fair amount of time trimming and breaking branches to create a step on and then over setup. Snowshoers can go around; little mutts can walk under. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Very easy day for the little guy and he loved it. There were 3 other dogs having fun. We had a couple people, having seen Pepper's prints, who told me thay had been hoping to see Tom and Atticus. Instead of our White Mountains F. Scott and Dali Lama they got us two raggedy mutts. Oh well, we still had fun talking about Atticus. Happy Birthday Atticus. |

We started very late and had to get home early, but what a fun and fast snowshoe. Jackson has one of the worse footbeds in summer, but in late winter it can so sweet, so smooth with such a nice slope. It could have used some more snow, but the downhill on the upper part of the trail was great, and fun elsewhere. My MSRs were great on the uphill providing better traction than any spikes, and televators for the few steep spots. But most people were in bare boots or spikes; postholing only when off the trail, at least when I was there. Another failed higher summits forecast meant we had great views of all the peaks with light winds. |
