As an update to the Aug 6 report, Mt Clinton road is open and there has been extensive work on the drainages and potholes from the Highland Center side to the Edmands Path trailhead. We were the first ones in the lot at 330am (go figure) and the lot was full when we got back around 830am. |

There is a skinny easy stepover not even 0.1 miles from the trailhead which must be new as there is evidence of lots of saw work all along this route. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
This is an exceptional trail for dogs particularly given its (Prezi) location. It has a significant amount of soil to walk on, and the tiny bit of talus is very stable with lots of flat areas. My pupper had a blast, as always! |

We hiked for sunrise and passed dozens of people ascending as we were finishing our hike. Eisenhower is awesome for sunrise, and this approach has fast footing in the dark. On our ascent I was pretty sure that there was a fisher or pine marten scurrying around up in a tree right over the trail ( approximately 2800’) but I couldn’t get a photo because it was 4am and dark LOL. On the way back down I was stopped and talking to two ascending hikers and a fisher ran right across the trail about 30’ from us!! We were in about the same location as my prior interaction!! Wowza!! Again no pictures but it was cool to see. Originally I was thinking pine marten but it was way too big and super dark brown/black. Neat! Oh and sunrise was picture perfect with clear skies, no significant wildfire smoke, no wind, and around 50 degrees! Yay! |
