 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Everything is dry, with very low water levels. I don't think I've ever seen the major one a short way up Avalon that low, an easy walk across using stones normally well underwater. The one a bit further up, over big slabs, also was trivial. One down below the steeps coming off Willey, not far from the Ethan Pond junction, also was low flow, but still made for a refreshing stop to wash off the sweat! |

 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails are generally in good shape. As noted by nearly everyone reporting on the trail coming from Field toward Willey, there is a badly eroded strip, with an awful lot of loose rock; every step moves something a bit further downhill. The wood ladders over the steep ledges near the bottom of the steeps coming down off Willey are the same - passable, with a few missing steps. Descent over the steepest ones may be best handled by facing the slope and downclimbing with use of hands, just like coming down a ladder up against your house! |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw one little pooch following it master coming down A-Z in the morning. Aside from the streams low down on the trails, the trails are quite dry; bring water for Fido. |

 | Comments: |
Nice hike, despite the warmth (not really too bad up high, in the shade), for two of us OTHH, working on our over-80 rounds. |
