Comments
Comments: felt like late april today. Zealand road fairly hard packed..barebooted most of it though some sloppy spots towards trailhead.

Hale Brook Trail had been broken out but not a cohesive trench. The sidehill section was interesting with only one snowshoe track wide but we kicked it out best we could and better now. Above there to the summit easy going with a more consolidated footbed. Certainly conditions will change but a nice spring hike today with no sticky snow and some good gliding. Some recent traffic on Lend a Hand and a skier at least had come up Fire Wardens. Nice chat with members of Carl's group coming down from the hut. Got cloudy and windy as we approached the summit but still in base layers all day. Fun and fast day out with Valerie though the heavy snow kicked my butt at times.
