Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The Swift was calf high today. Quick easy walk across with crocs.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All the trails and roads are in amazing shape. A few blowdowns to go over on Brunel, but very easy to manage. Zero off trail re-routes required.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw none, but seems with plans for water after the Swift crossing in dry times, it would be quite enjoyable.
Bugs
Bugs: Deer flies buzzing on the Forest Roads. Non-existent on the trails.

Comments
Comments: Original plan was to approach Owl’s Cliff from Tremont. After some research and seeing that the Sawyer Pond approach would reduce the elevation gain by about 1700’ for only 2 miles more walking, I gave it a go and have zero regrets. Despite the smoke haze, the views of the Sandwich Range and Green’s Cliff from the viewpoint was excellent. Glad I got a somewhat earlier start today as the rains were just starting as headed west on the Kanc.
