Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: It appears Dry River Trail down through Oakes Gulf and all the way to the jct with Mt Eisenhower Trail has had some recent blowdown removals. There are plenty of step-overs and duck-unders, but no blowdowns. The same can be said for the Mt Eisenhower Trail. DRT between the shelter and MET has a riverbank slide that requires care to traverse.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This would be a tough hike for the pups.

Comments
Comments: The hike up Edmands and Crawford to the hut was lovely. We saw lots of hikers doing a Presi traverse, a few thru hikers, and a section hiker. The real fun began once we got on the DRT. The talus slopes of Oakes Gulf is well marked with cairns and easy to follow. Once the trail enters a section of dense vegetation, it becomes a little harder to navigate because you can't see your feet. We got off track for a moment, but quickly made a correction. We expected there to be blowdowns, but were delighted to see that someone has been thru recently removing them. A huge "Thank You" to whomever did this work.

After a night at the shelter, which we had to ourselves, we continued down DRT to the MET, and headed up that. Much to our delight, it is also blowdown free, but does have lots of step-overs and duck-unders. We had every intention of doing an out/back on the Isolation West Trail, but due to the ruggedness of the previous day's hike, we called it for another day.
