Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first crossing was fine although some have wacked around it. The main crossings after Carrigain Notch Trail intersects are open, and the snowshoes or boots could get a bit wet using rocks and wood stems, but it isn't bad with such low water. Any paws will certainly get a bit wet. I went upstream a bit and got across fairly easily without any problems, but Pepper ended up wading in trying to follow me, and the others went back to the main crossing. We all used the main crossing on the way back.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: A few face slappers but no problems.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Cinnilla and Pepper had a fun hike. Conditions are pretty good for a dog, the trail is smooth and packed, there's no slippery ledges and there is even water. On a warm day it didn't matter that the paws got wet at the crossings; if it had mattered it could have been a nuisance. Leashes were essential on the road in the afternoon due to the snowmobilers.

Comments
Comments: Due to the high winds forecast for the higher summits, we changed our plans to Carrigain, and had a wonderful hike. On the road we barebooted/skied up to the summer TH, then used snowshoes up and down on thet rail. At times on the way up the snow balled under the snowshoes, although my MSR Evo Ascents did it less than the others because they lack a true heel crampon.

On the way down the melting made for a nice snowshoe. Georg skied out and said it was good although a bit slow. We only saw 3 snowmobilers, all on the way out. It was a beautiful day out, mild with quite tolerable winds up high, and thus we spent a long lunch break on top celebrating Per and Cinnilla's Winter 4K finish. Per, Cinnilla and Georg are down to two hikes to finish their 48 in one winter. Another highlight was getting to stop and chat with Silverfox and ValC. What a great day with great people and dogs.
