Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only real crossing of note is Whitin Brook which was low and easy
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I found a good chunk of the trail between Whitin Brook and South Paugus was fairly narrow with a lot of brushing past short trees. totally fine but not a walk in the park. Otherwise there are a number of trees down along this entire route, nothing bad but could use some maintenance eventually.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: plenty of bugs at lower elevations. I got away with just a few bits without using bug spray, your mileage may vary.

Comments
Comments: Loop started from 113A. When up and over Mexico, down to Whitin Brook, past Big Rock Cave- certainly some big rocks. Generally uneventful through here other than annoying bugs. From there up Big Rock Cave and then Old Paugus trails. The rock slide up Old Paugus was certainly exciting as all the trails to that point had been fairly boring. As mentioned above trail got pretty narrow above this point. unlike the previous poster I didn't find this trail difficult to navigate it was just annoying brushing past trees constantly. Nice views from the summit but not quite a blow-you-away 52 WAV. I found the way down via Lawrence and Cabin trails was very pleasant. Very few rocks and roots on this route is a welcome break from seemingly almost every trail the northeast has to offer. Plenty of tiny little streams and spots of mud to hop across as you get down cabin. Lots of mushrooms out too which was fun to try to spot different ones. Total loop was 8.1 miles, 2600ft elevation gain.
