What a day - I bailed on the Presis because the forecast was not stable. This morning, the forecast for Franconia Ridge looked pretty good. I saw a handful of people today, but only one other was wearing snowshoes, so the trail is somewhat smoothed, or was when I passed by. Above the hut and out of the trees, there is some boiler plate which if your snowshoes are not sharp, you might want crampons. Drew Peterson, whom I ran into, wore them in this stretch, but I had no problems with snowshoes. |
