up Kinsman Ridge trail from the tram parking lot. started out clear but by the time I got to the view point clouds had blown in and remained for the rest of the hike. Continued up to the tower. Some mud on these higher elevation trails but nothing too deep. Then continued along Kinsman ridge trail to Hi Cannon. Down Hi Cannon which really wasn't too bad, still no views. Took Dodge cut off to Lonesome lake to at least see something nice on the hike. Very busy at the lake. Then continued down Lonesome lake trail to Lafayette campground. Then back to the car via the notch bike path. Bike path was surprisingly empty for a Saturday afternoon. much more fun as a loop- ended up being 8 miles and 2300 ft elevation gain, most of which was gained within the first 1.5 miles...forgot how steep it is going up that end of kinsman ridge trail... |
