Water Crossing Notes: Two brook crossings were not an issue.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Met two AMC work crew members working on the Mahoosuc Trail. They are not working on the Mt. Success Trail that is a mud pit with failing bog bridges and water all over. The AMC crew members had replaced and repaired the bog bridges leading to the plane crash site. That is how far we went...more could have been repaired.

Bugs: Black flies were on the Mt. Success summit. The thru-hiker we met said he was encountering black flies on all the Mahoosuc Range summits.

Comments
Comments: A glorious day in early July! Was awesome to meet the two AMC crew members as noted above. Thanks for all the hard work, AMC! The upper part of the Mt. Success Trail is horrendously muddy in spots. Real gnarly. Do NOT skip the outlook loop-the views up there are truly magnificent! Someone has tied a rope to a small tree at the chimney scramble. We used it as back up to climb up/down. We went to the plane crash site which was very interesting and somber. Crazy to imagine 5 of 7 people survived. Definitely worth the extra effort.
