Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossings on Sabbaday Brook could be better marked, hard to follow in places. I waded these all fairly low. Deepest was knee deep.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The Kate Sleeper maintainer was out clearing blowdowns, a big thank you. But there are so many more, some obscuring the trail. The top of Sabbaday is a giant mess, naturally on the steepest sections. So many blowdowns I was wishing I went down Pine Bend instead.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Several out today, long hike with no water for big stretches.
Bugs
Bugs: Mosquitos in the lots, Deet kept them away
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: Death by Sandwich! Wow big day on some very quiet trails. Never gone this direction but I really enjoyed it. Trails in really good shape. Really flat & fast before the climb begins, it does get steep! Rollins was fairly quiet & in great shape. Kate Sleeper is a favorite, maintainer out & I followed him to just past Downes Brook. He gave me a heads up that it’s slow going, lots of blowdowns! Both Sleepers herd paths are easy to follow, overgrown. No sign on West? I thought I remembered one, maybe not, it’s been a few years. This was a slog until the slide, then quick to North, no issues. If I could change anything I would have gone down Pine Bend as Sabbaday is painful at the start, also see water crossings. Blazing & carions on both sides of crossings would make it easier to follow. I’ve done this before but easy to lose the trail in spots. Some erosion creeping in near the bottom. Road walk at the end sucked, one of the few things I dislike hiking solo. Great day but am thankful I don’t have to do this loop again anytime soon!
