| | Date of Hike: | Monday, June 30, 2025 | | | | | Parking/Access Road Notes: | Room for plenty of cars at 3-Ponds Trailhead - saw 2 other cars but never met anyone on the trails. | | | | | Surface Conditions: | Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Significant | | | | | Recommended Equipment: | | | | | | Water Crossing Notes: | lots of minor crossings with greasy rocks | | | | | Trail Maintenance Notes: | North of the beaver dam between the ponds on the Three Ponds Trail - very overgrown with hobblebush, stepovers, and blowdowns - difficult to see my footing and looks abandoned. At 1 point there are at least 3 trees (about .5 mi north of beaver dam) toppled like pickup sticks... good news - so little traffic in this section there are few herd paths. North end of loop around the ponds had the typical very muddy sections. | | | | | Dog-Related Notes: | | | | | | Bugs: | terrible - mostly horseflies. I tried DEET but didn't have a lot of success. Also black flies and a selection of mosquitoes | | | | | Lost and Found: | | | |

| | | | Comments: | Terrific morning - just such a pleasant area. Muddy sections were muddier than usual. I went as far as Foxglove Pond swamp area - my usual turnaround is where the trail moves off to right into the wet muck - lovely trails leading to that spot. In general, a good trail run but uncertain footing at times. I could generally run about 3/4 of the trails today, being careful of falling in the mud/bog bridges. I think total distance was under 7 miles.
