|
| | Date of Hike: | Tuesday, June 24, 2025 | | | | | Parking/Access Road Notes: | Parked off the shoulder of 302. | | | | | Surface Conditions: | Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable | | | | | Recommended Equipment: | | | | | | Water Crossing Notes: | Easy rock hops. Water was quite low but I searched and found some deeper pools to cool off in. | | | | | Trail Maintenance Notes: | I spent some time trimming blowdowns, mostly on ISO West. I cut pretty much everything under 4”, what’s left can be stepped over or under easily enough for now. I counted about 40 on Davis path, from 4-8”, most are leaners. None of those are causing trail creep. Perhaps they can be used as bog bridges, just drop them right in the mud. | | | | | Dog-Related Notes: | | | | | | Bugs: | Bugs weren’t as bad as I expected. The mosquitos were only bad in the first half mile around 7:00 last night, that was it. There was a strong breeze at the summit. | | | | | Lost and Found: | | | |

| | | | Comments: | A great hike for a “heat advisory” day. The water was very tolerable, I sat in it for quite a while. It’s usually icy, and I could see snow up in Oakes Gulf too. Not much has changed on the trail since last year. I camped at a backcountry tent site last night for some peace and quiet, and after enjoying the summit this morning, I worked on cleaning up blowdowns before the day got too hot. I only saw 2 other hikers the whole time. Checked off Isolation for round 8 and gridded out June. | | | | | Name: | Carl G | | | | | E-Mail: | calxjohnson@gmail.com | | | | | Date Submitted: | 2025-06-24 | | | | | Link: | https:// | | | | Disclaimer: Reports are not verified - conditions may vary.
